letterpress printing machines are the most widely used for commercial
and specialty printing. Semi and fully automatic rotary machines allow
up to 8 colour printing with high quality and clarity. These machines
are apt for printing both sides of paper simultaneously.Types of Rotary Letterpress Machine
Rotary letterpress machines can further be divided into two types, namely:
- Sheet-fed rotary machine: These machines are not much in use these days
- Web-fed rotary machine: These are the most popular type of letter press printing machines
Rotary letterpress machines require curved image carrying plates. Stereotype, electrotype, and molded plastic or rubber are the widely used plates. Heat-set inks equipped with dryers are used during printing of paper. These dryers are usually high-velocity hot air type. These machines have a uniform ink transfer system and the output can vary, depending on the automation of machine.
